With Memorial Day weekend right around the corner, I’ve never been more excited to sit in traffic on the Long Island Expressway to head out to the Hamptons. Most of my friends know that once summer hits, my weekends are reserved for the beach. It’s the only time of year my routine actually feels consistent—well, mostly consistent. Since I was 13, I’ve followed what I like to believe is the perfect summer routine. So why not share?
6:30 AM - Wake Up & Workout
I like to get up and get out. A spoonful of peanut butter and I’m ready to go. Depending on my mood, I will either go for a run, take a pilates class, or sweat my ass off at Barry’s. And yes, a spoonful of peanut butter is enough for me.
8:00 AM - Stock Up on Food for the Weekend
Citarella and Round Swamp Farm are my usual go-tos. At Citarella, I’ll pick up food to cook for dinner over the weekend. Round Swamp is my guilty pleasure—the chicken fingers, cookies, and of course, the chicken salad are worth it.
8:30 AM - Breakfast
The real question is am I making eggs at home or am I picking up a breakfast sandwich. I’ll typically get coffee at this hour of the day too because duh.
9:30 AM - Let’s Get Ready for the Beach
A quick shower (because I’m gross from my workout), change, and pack the car. I pack a lot for the beach so here’s my quick list.
Briana’s Grab & Go For the Beach:
Beach chairs
Umbrella
Towels
Sunscreen
Sunglasses
Speaker
Lunch
Snacks
Paddle ball
Books
Hats
A cooler filled with waters
10:00 AM - Time to Relax
My favorite part of the day. It is a luxury to be able to sit on the beach and relax. I’ll play a little paddle ball, take a dip in the ocean, and walk along the beach. Don’t get me wrong, a girl loves to sit and tan but it’s too many hours sitting down for me.
5:30 PM - Head Back to the House
It’s a bit of a nightmare to pack everything back up, but teamwork makes the dream work! When I get home, I’ll shower off and get ready for whatever I have planned for the rest of the night.
7:00 PM - Dinner Time
I’m pretty easygoing when it comes to dinner. I enjoy going out to eat, but I don’t mind staying home and grilling in the backyard. A sweet treat after dinner is non-negotiable. If I’m home for dinner, I always head back to the beach to catch the sunset.
This routine doesn’t play out every weekend. If it rains, I usually walk around town and check out the shops. Every now and then, I’ll play a round of mini golf or hit a few balls at the range. I typically head to the bar with friends at least one night, but it’s not a regular thing. Again, this is just what works for me—and honestly, I can’t wait to get back to it.
This sounds like the dream!!
